A summer escape in the Dolomites

Summer in Monguelfo in the Pusteria valley reveals its gentle, natural side. Wide meadows, dense forests and clear mountain air shape the landscape of this green valley, creating a sense of freedom. The pleasantly mild temperatures invite you to spend plenty of time outdoors. Hiking and climbing

The nature experience begins right around our house. Hiking trails and gentle walking paths wind through meadows and forests, revealing breathtaking views of the Dolomites at every turn. Ideal for a relaxed start to the day, when movement and rest should be in harmony.

Just a few minutes’ drive away lie Lake Braies and Lake Anterselva, along with many other beautiful alpine lakes, whose circular walks restore energy and leave you feeling refreshed. The Casies valley delights with its traditional alpine huts and regional specialities, while those looking to venture higher will find rewarding challenges and unforgettable views in the mountains, including the iconic Three peaks of Lavaredo and many other summits.

Biking

For cycling enthusiasts, our surroundings offer a wide range of opportunities. Gentle panoramic trails lead through meadows and lush green forests, inviting you to take in the scenery at a relaxed pace – such as the stunning panoramic route to Lake Braies. Those who prefer a more athletic experience will find mountain bike trails and challenging routes for real adventures. Our surroundings can also be wonderfully explored by e-bike. Right outside our doorstep, a cycle path runs through Monguelfo, leading all the way to Lienz and along the length of the lush green valley. Guests can hire e-bikes directly on site and set off to explore at their leisure.

Culture

Monguelfo enjoys a central location in the Pusteria valley, making it the perfect base for cultural discoveries throughout South Tyrol. Just a few minutes’ drive away, charming destinations such as San Candido and the romantic old towns of Brunico and Bressanone await. There, guests can browse in the shops, pause in inviting cafés and excellent restaurants, and savour the town’s atmosphere over an aperitif. Right on the doorstep, guests can visit Castel Welsperg, where concerts and exhibitions take place throughout the summer. Those with an interest in mountain heritage should explore the Messner Mountain Museum, which showcases the traditions of alpinism. For art lovers, exhibitions such as LUMEN present striking mountain photography. A little further afield, around an hour and a half away, lies the Ötzi Museum in Bolzano, offering fascinating insights into the history of the famous glacier mummy.

Experience days where your soul laughs and every moment becomes precious. Just a few minutes’ drive away, a host of exciting experiences awaits: in San Candido, you can race down the mountain on the Funbob at Mount Baranci, the longest summer toboggan run in South Tyrol; at the impressive Reinbach waterfalls near Campo Tures, thrilling Fly-Line adventures await; or take to the skies with paragliding on Plan de Corones and discover the beauty of the Pusteria valley from above. Those who prefer a more leisurely pace can discover culinary highlights at a traditional dumpling-making course at the Lechnerhof in Braies.
