Ansitz Toldt: history, philosophy & romantic holidays in South Tyrol

Preserving the past, shaping the future, living sustainably today

Preserved by the Toldt family for generations, now shaped with respect for the past and openness to the new. Ansitz Toldt is a house rich in history, a long-standing part of the village for centuries and a reflection of its time. Its walls tell of endurance and transformation, creating a place where history is still deeply felt.

Our values

A conscious way of living, sustainable action and respect for nature shape our path. At Ansitz Toldt, tradition and innovation come together to create spaces that offer both freedom and a sense of comfort. Here, nature, indulgence and togetherness reveal their full beauty.

The Ansitz tells its story

1753

In 1753, Anton Toldt brought the Ansitz into the family through marriage, yet it was his son, Josef Jakob Toldt, who first truly shaped it as its owner. Though still a minor, he assumed responsibility for the inn and estates, managing them with remarkable diligence.

1839

In 1839, his daughter Anna Apollonia Martha Toldt followed, managing the Ansitz and the Goldener Löwe inn with great determination, and was mentioned in the travel guide Das Land Tirol as a “renowned Tyrolean landlady”.

1882

In 1882, a major flood caused severe damage to the Goldener Löwe inn, and in 1936 a fire destroyed much of the house, including the barn. Whatever challenges came their way, the Toldt family always found a way to preserve the Ansitz and guide it into the future. After the fire, the house was not only rebuilt but also expanded, giving rise to the area’s first apartments with running water.

2026

The historic Ansitz awakens in a new guise: Stefan Toldt and his wife Stefanie are shaping it together, with the dedicated support of the family. It is being led into a new era, with the intention of accompanying many generations to come. With a love of the past and the courage to embrace the new, a place emerges that preserves its history while opening up to fresh ideas.
